What We Know: Republic High School’s FFA program has a new look, thanks to a winning idea from its students.

Students took first place in the Soy Innovation Challenge earlier this year, earning a $10,000 grant for branding and marketing.

What It Means: The money helped pay for a new FFA sign outside the school, along with competition banners and new culinary uniforms.

FFA advisor Kaylee Lower says the sign also helps people understand just how much of the program is run by students.

What’s Next: Republic’s FFA program includes a school farm, greenhouse, food lab, welding lab, and wood shop.

Students also run the program’s social media pages, giving them some hands-on marketing experience along with agriculture.
