A substantial water leak has caused damage inside Plaster Stadium on Thursday, prompting a response from two Springfield Fire Department engines.
A video taken from the scene showed water gushing out of the ceiling and into a hallway area near the handball courts under the west side of the stadium.
The leak was first noticed at 8:35 p.m. and stopped a little over an hour later.
Two water pumps were being used to remove the water from the damaged areas, which were limited to the hallway where the leak began.
The extent of the damage done and the cause of the leak is currently unknown, but the stream from the leak made its way down the hall and into the cheerleaders’ and Sugar Bears’ equipment rooms.
Multiple members from the Sugar Bears, including head coach Emily Dryden, were seen moving equipment out of the affected rooms.
Water also reportedly flowed into a couple of the handball courts, but the rest diverted elsewhere before reaching the press conference room that was further down the hallway.
MSU’s football team is scheduled to play its final game of the season at Plaster Stadium on November 29.
