The “100 Deadliest Days of Summer” are here! This is the time when the number of deadly car crashes rises… especially among teen drivers.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to more than 200 traffic crashes during the 4th of July weekend alone, 9 of which were fatal.
How many were the results of drivers using their cell phones?
Missouri Statute 304.822, the Siddens-Bening Hands Free Law, is a very long law with many definitions in it and it is designed to reduce distracted driving. In short: The law prohibits drivers from holding or using their cell phones while driving, except for hands-free or voice operated functions.
It is true that it takes a far higher amount of concentration and focus to drive a car or truck down the road than it does to fly a passenger jet aircraft.
There is nothing so important on your phone that it would cause you to temporarily lose control of your vehicle possibly be injured or killed… or kill someone else.
The MSHP urges you to use caution and embrace the “hands-free” way of driving. It’s a win-win for everyone!
