Teenager from Springfield Arrested, Charged in Connection with Armed Robbery, Crime Spree

A teenager from Springfield is in custody on charges of armed robbery, and possibly a crime spree in the area.

Investigators say 18-year-old Quinton Jones walked into the Kum & Go convenience store on Division Street near Packer Road May 18th.

Witnesses at the gas station say Jones was wearing a white mask and carrying a shotgun, threatening employees and demanding money.

When he left the store, he was seen in a Honda Pilot which had been reported stolen May 13.

Police found the car shortly after the robbery wrecked and abandoned.

Jones allegedly assaulted a family member later on the date of May 18.

As the investigation continued, officers found evidence that Jones had also fired some 12 shots into the Vroom Groom car wash on June 21st along East Chestnut.

Jones is facing charges of first-degree robbery, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action.
