Investigators in Springfield say they have a suspect in custody accused of sexually assaulting a child.
Prosecutors filed charges against 19-year-old Sebastian Mayhew on May 16 for three counts of first-degree rape and one count of child molestation.
Police say the victim came forward in October of 2022 saying that he had abused them for over five years, beginning when they were four years old.
The victim told Springfield Police that Mayhew had repeatedly sodomized them, and also had penetrative intercourse with them numerous times.
Investigators say Mayhew was arrested on May 19 and is being held in the Greene County Jail without bond.
A criminal setting hearing has been scheduled on May 31 at 9:00 am, with a preliminary hearing to follow on June 14 at 1:30 pm.
