What We Know: A popular Webster County outdoor tradition is celebrating 20 years this weekend.

The Webster County Baptist Association will hold its 20th annual Sportsmen’s Event Saturday, Aug. 22, at the Boy Scout camp in Webster County.

What It Means: Organizer Todd Hungerford says between 1,000 and 1,500 people could attend. The event includes a 30-target archery course, demonstrations, activities for kids and plenty of free food.

Admission is free. There is a $10 charge for most older youth and adults who want to take part in the archery shoot.

What’s Next: Organizers also plan to give away about $20,000 in prizes, including gift cards, kayaks, coolers and outdoor equipment.

The event has a Christian ministry focus, with Mitch Fisher scheduled to speak around 3 p.m.

Activities begin at 7 Saturday morning. Visitors should park at Marshfield High School, where buses and vans will provide transportation to and from the Boy Scout camp throughout the day.
