Thousands of Springfield residents lose power due to Monday morning storms

According to the Springfield City Utilities map, over 8,000 people lost power due to lightning strikes early Monday morning.

What We Know: Heavy rainfall, lightning, and thunder hit the city of Springfield early Monday morning resulting in many power outage reports, leaving thousands of residents without power.

The City Utilities outage map shows the majority of reports coming from the Roundtree-Walnut area, the intersection of Highway 60 and 65, and the northeast part of the city.

What It Means: City Utility crews are working to help those without power and restore their electricity.
