What We Know: A man from Springfield is facing several charges after what police say began as a routine traffic stop and ended with a foot chase and struggle with officers.

What’s Next: Terrence Courtney Jr. has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and driving while revoked, according to court records filed in Greene County.

It happened shortly after midnight on Monday when a Springfield police officer spotted a blue Ford Bronco with expired Texas license plates.

Police attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle continued for several blocks before eventually pulling over on Douglas Avenue.

A struggle followed as officers tried to take him into custody.

Police said Courtney grabbed at an officer’s baton and continued resisting before he was eventually restrained and arrested.

During a search, officers reported finding a small bag containing about 0.5 grams of methamphetamine.

Court records show Courtney’s driving privileges had been revoked.
