The Christian County Sheriff’s Office and Douglas County Sheriff’s Office have both received funding for new equipment after the deadly shooting earlier this year that claimed the lives of two Christian County deputies.
Christian Country Sheriff Brad Cole and Douglas Country Sheriff Chris Degase spoke about how after the situation, they saw a need for better equipment and training to protect their officers.
Cole said that with the $132,000 that the county commission approved for the Sheriff’s office, they have purchased thermal sights for their rifles and plan to acquire a Bearcat vehicle.
For Douglas County, donations and fundraising have made it possible to obtain night-vision sights and upgraded body armor, Degase says.
Both Sheriffs are looking to secure more funding for further upgrades for their offices.
