Two Springfield Residents Sentenced for Child Sex Crimes

In a release Wednesday, the Department of Justice announced two people from Springfield were sentenced for child sex crimes.

Joseph Gibson and Danna Rodriguez were each sentenced to over 20 years in prison after admitting to engaging in sex trafficking.

According to investigators, the two sex trafficked a 15-year-old girl, and at one point convinced the girl to try and get some of her friends to participate. The other girls refused.

Police reports said Rodriguez took lude photos of the girl and sent them to Gibson. Afterwards, officers say the two drugged the 15-year-old with marijuana and ecstasy and coerced her into engaging in sexual activity with a man.

Both Gibson and Rodriguez pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of a minor and sex trafficking of a minor.

Gibson received a 30 year prison sentence, while Rodriguez was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Neither will be eligible for parole and will spend 25 years on supervised release at the conclusion of their sentence.
