RE-OPENED: Two Vehicle Crash Shuts Down Westbound Traffic on I-44 at Highway 65

The westbound lanes of I-44 at Highway 65 in Springfield re-opened after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday following an injury crash involving a pickup and a semi.

Authorities say the driver of the pickup crashed into the back of the semi, trapping the driver of the pickup.

Emergency crews removed the pickup’s driver, who was taken to the hospital, but the extent of his injuries is not known.

We had reports of backups at least two miles reported on the interstate at the 82B Highway 65 exit during the morning commute.

All westbound traffic was shut down at the 82.6 mile marker.

Drivers were advised to go northbound on Highway 65 to Valley Water Mill Road just north of I-44, where they could turn around and come back south on 65 to get back onto the interstate.
