The wife of the man who killed two Christian County deputies has finally been indicted.

Yvonne Bird, a previously convicted felon and wife of Richard Bird has been charged with two counts of unlawful possession of firearms and one count of intent to distribute drugs, according to federal court records.

Richard Bird is the man who killed Christian County Deputy Gabriel Ramirez during a traffic stop back on Feb. 23. During a manhunt, a shootout took place early on Feb. 24 when Richard shot and killed Christian County Deputy Michael Hislope and injured Christian County Deputy Josh Wahl as well as Webster County Deputy Austin McCall before Richard was killed in the shootout.

On Feb. 16, 2026, in Stone County, Mo., deputies responded to a home in the 4200 block of State Hwy. Y in Galena after receiving information of stolen property at the residence. A search warrant was executed and Richard and Yvonne were found inside the home. Multiple firearm parts and accessories were found throughout the home including several guns, a bucket of .22 ammo and 281 rounds of 7.6X29mm ammo.

In addition they found suspected meth residue in the bathroom and bedroom, a digital scale with meth residue on it, and one gram of meth scattered on an office desk. Additional stolen property was located within and around the home.

A search of Yvonne’s car produced 6.5 grams of suspected meth in a backpack, 14.8 grams of meth in a box, four syringes that contained meth, and a box of .25 caliber ammo, all inside the car.

Both Yvonne and Richard bonded out of jail Feb. 23rd, the morning of the shooting.
