Monday night, a truck struck and killed a 35-year-old construction worker near Waynesville, adding to the growing number of work zone crashes in Missouri this year.
Investigators say the worker was flagging traffic when the driver hit him but the driver claims they never saw the man.
This is the fifth work zone fatality in the state in year, with 2025 seeing 24 total deaths.
Authorities say distracted driving remains the number one cause of crashes in work zones and they ask that all drivers pay attention through road work zones and put phones down.
