What It Means: The Missouri Department of Transportation says more than 400,000 fans traveled through the region during six World Cup matches and nearly three weeks of events.
MoDOT crews responded to about 650 traffic incidents while helping keep vehicles moving safely.
What’s Next: Passenger rail also saw a big boost. Extra railcars were added to the Missouri River Runner between Kansas City and St. Louis, helping carry more than 31,000 passengers. That’s a 14 percent increase over last year.
MoDOT Director Ed Hassinger says the success was made possible through teamwork among local, state, and federal agencies, proving Kansas City is ready to host major international events.
