Apartment Building Damaged by Fire near Missouri State University

Investigators in Springfield are trying to determine the cause of a fire that damaged an apartment complex near the Missouri State campus.

Crews were called to the area of National and Walnut at around 11 p.m. Monday night, where they witnesses a fire coming out of an apartment.

Officials say the flames were put out in around five minutes, and caused smoke and fire damage.

The tenant of the apartment noticed smoke coming from his unit when he get home, and rushed inside to save his dogs.

No one was injured during the fire.
