Discussion in Bolivar is swirling over a new tax increase proposal.
“Proposition Public Safety” will be voted on in the city’s Municipal Election April 2nd and, if passed, add a ¾ cent sales tax to go towards Police and Fire Departments. The Departments in the city would see a projected 2 million dollar increase in budgets combined.
Department officials say the money will go towards better pay, and new hires.
