Branson State Representative Brian Seitz has introduced a resolution that would prohibit abortions if a fetal heartbeat is detected.
An exception would be made for cases of medical emergencies. In November, Missouri voters passed a constitutional amendment guaranteeing the right to an abortion.
The resolution has had two readings in the House, but is not currently scheduled for another hearing.
