City Utilities of Springfield will be able to save more than a million dollars a year by refinancing its bonds.

The C-U board approved a plan to refinance the utility’s revenue bonds in February, and Springfield City Council approved the plan in March.

The new bonds were issued on June 18th and have a lower interest rate than the previous bonds.

C-U will save 1-point-3 million dollars a year beginning in 2026.
