The City of Clever is reeling after its police chief, Michael Evans, was arrested and charged with domestic assault.
Investigators say the 49-year-old was arrested following a disturbance that was called in along West Wilderness Street the night of November 7.
According to Greene County Sheriff’s deputies, he was arrested and charged with second-degree domestic assault.
Specific details of the case are limited, but the Clever Police Department did confirm that Evans is the Chief of Police.
Shortly after his arrest, Evans did submit his letter or resignation. Plans to appoint a new police chief have not been confirmed at this time.
He is currently being held in the Greene County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
