City of Springfield Acquiring Hotel of Terror

The City of Springfield has voted unanimously to use eminent domain to acquire the Hotel of Terror.

The city wants to use the property to extend the Jordan Creek channel North to reduce flooding and repair the Main Street bridge.

The city and the building’s owner, Sterling Mathis, have been unable to agree on a purchase price after several years of negotiations.
