City Utilities Canceling Emergency Declaration in Springfield

With power being restored for many residents in the greater Springfield area, City Utilities is canceling its Emergency Declaration.

CU spokesperson Joel Alexander says crews conducted repair work “around the clock” to restore power lines following Sunday night’s storms that brought 70+ mile per hour winds.

At its peak, some 15,000 residents were without power.

The company is now under normal daily operations, but will continue to conduct more repairs to ensure all residents power is restored.
