Corporal Punishment Discussed by Springfield School Board Member

Steve Makoski, Springfield School Board member, has said that he thinks the board should consider discussing corporal punishment as an option for discipline in schools.

He brought up this topic while a paddle sat on the desk in front of him.

Makoski has not yet introduced any official policy or rule changes for consideration.

Makoski has also proposed that the board consider a zero tolerance cell phone policy.

“Are we not trying to discover all the alternatives that we have? Is corporal punishment one of those alternatives? Yes, it is. Should we consider it? I think as a board we should. That doesn’t mean that it will happen,” Makoski told Ozarks First.
