UPDATE: Springfield Police say a bicyclist died Tuesday from his injuries after being hit by a van Monday night.
Police say the victim is identified as Qiping Ran, 30.
Officers say Ran was stopped in the roadway near Campbell and Normal Street when the van hit him. Following the collision, Ran’s bicycle crossed into the southbound lane of traffic, where it was hit by a motorcycle. The motorcyclist was not injured.
Police say there’s no evidence of impairment or speed as a factor in the crash.
Original Story: A bicyclist has life-threatening injuries after a crash on Campbell Avenue in Springfield Monday night.
Police say the cyclist was northbound on Campbell near Normal Street when a van hit the cyclist. Police don’t know if the cyclist was riding or pushing the bicycle.
Officers say there is no evidence the driver of the van was impaired or speeding.
