Two Missing Teens from Ozark Trails Academy Found Safe

UPDATE: The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says two teenagers who ran away from a group home Saturday have returned.

Investigators say Ryan Knight and Mya Berckmiller left the academy Saturday night, May 11.

Ozark Trails Academy, located off Highway 181 southwest of Willow Springs, houses troubled teens from across the area.

Members of the Eastern Douglas County Fire Department, Twin Bridges Fire Department, and a group of volunteers went out searching for the teens Saturday night and into Sunday.

Knight is described as a white male, standing 5’10” and 160 pounds, with brown hair, brown eyes, a green shirt, and black sweatpants.

Berckmiller is a white female, 5’8″ with brown hair, green eyes, a gray shirt, and black pants. She is more often than not wearing glasses.

Deputies do not suspect foul play in the disappearance, and say they don’t believe the children are in immediate danger.
