What We Know: A man from Springfield is behind bars after troopers say he led them on a chase in a stolen vehicle through northern Greene County.
What It Means: Dax West is charged with aggravated fleeing a stop or detention.
The chase started Sunday after troopers learned the stolen vehicle was being followed by its owner near Fair Grove.
According to the Highway Patrol, West reached 80 miles per hour in a 55 zone before making his way onto Highway 13. At one point, he allegedly crossed the median and drove north in the southbound lanes.
The chase ended near Farm Road 6 when the vehicle spun into the median. West then took off on foot but was caught after a short chase.
The 2007 Lexus RX was confirmed stolen out of Springfield.
Court records show West was already on probation and parole for unlawful possession of a firearm and felony stealing.
What’s Next: He remains in the Greene County Jail without bond.
