One person is dead and another hospitalized after a head-on crash in Springfield Saturday afternoon.
In a news release, the Springfield Police Department says officers responded to the intersection of Fremont and Buena Vista at 3:01pm Saturday.
Investigators say David Rodgers, 37, from Springfield, was driving a car northbound on Fremont that went into the southbound lane and hit a southbound vehicle driven by Alyssa Loveland, 36, from Springfield.
Rodgers died at the scene. Loveland was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Police say the circumstances of the crash are part of an ongoing investigation, and anyone with information should contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 417-869-TIPS (8477).
This was Springfield’s fifth fatal crash of 2025.
