What We Know: A McDonald’s in Lebanon is a total loss after a fire Saturday afternoon.
What It Means: Firefighters were called to the restaurant on South Jefferson Avenue just after 4 p.m. At first, crews saw only light smoke.
But after opening the false ceiling, they found a much larger fire. Deputy Fire Chief Andy Woody says crews initially tried fighting it from inside before conditions forced them to pull out and fight the fire from outside.
Everyone inside made it out safely, and no firefighters were hurt.
The fire appears to have started in the kitchen. Investigators found two possible accidental causes, but there was too much damage to determine which one started it. That’s why the official cause remains undetermined.
What’s Next: The owners say they plan to rebuild.
