UPDATE: 1:00pm Saturday: All of the Flash Flood Warnings across the Ozarks have either expired or been replaced by flood warnings. A number of roads remain closed or have portions of those roads blocked off due to flooding.
Law enforcement is reporting a water rescue off AB Highway in Douglas County earlier Saturday morning. Two people were sent to the hospital.
Original Story: Heavy rains overnight Friday night into Saturday morning have led to flooded roads and some water rescues in the Springfield metro area.
The National Weather Service says by 7an Saturday, 3-7 inches of rain had already fallen in the Springfield area, with rainfall rates of 0.5 to 1.5 inches per hour.
By 6am, we had reports from law enforcement of flooded roads and water rescues underway in and around Springfield.
A portion of eastbound Chestnut Expressway was closed due to flooding two miles northeast of Springfield.
We’ve had reports of Highway A flooded near Diggins in Webster County, and northbound Highway 13 closed due to flooding in the Ebenezer area, with delays on southbound 13.
Law enforcement reported the following at 7am four miles northeast of Springfield: Water rescues ongoing with water getting into cars and members of the public becoming stranded.
Many counties on the Ozarks are under a Flash Flood Warning Saturday morning, with more rain expected through the holiday weekend.
