A Greene County deputy is in stable condition after being shot while serving a warrant to a fugitive.
It happened at a house in the 1400 block of Blaine Street near Weller Avenue on Monday afternoon.
Springfield Police and the Greene County Sheriff’s Department closed down Blaine Street.
Sheriff Jim Arnott says the deputy is hospitalized in stable condition and the suspect, 41-year-old Theodore Davis, was taken to the Greene County Jail.
Sheriff Arnott says a bullet proof vest saved the deputy’s life.
