Half Foot Of Snow in Springfield and Snow Covered Roads Throughout the Ozarks

A winter storm has dumped nearly 6 inches of snow in Springfield and created difficult driving conditions across the Ozarks.

The MoDOT Traveler Information Map is showing all highways in the Ozarks, even up through central Missouri, as snow covered.

Major roads in Springfield, such as Sunshine and Chestnut Expressway, were snow packed at the beginning of the morning commute, but snow plows can be seen across the city, and conditions should improve as the morning goes along.

The snow should be coming to an end later this morning in the Springfield metro area.

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6pm for areas along and south of I-44, while communities north of the interstate remain under a Winter Weather Advisory until 6pm.

The National Weather Service says total snow accumulations should range from 4-7 inches along and south of I-44, with 2-4 inches north of the interstate.
