Two people were killed and one injured after a head-on car crash on Monday night near Highlandville.
Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred on Melton Road around 8:50 pm when a westbound Ford F-150 pickup truck crossed the center line, colliding head-on with a Honda Odyssey minivan in the opposing lane.
Both occupants in the minivan died on the scene, and the suspectedly impaired truck driver was taken to Cox South in Springfield with moderate injuries.
In a recent announcement, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office said that the minivan’s occupants were 52-year-old Deputy Sheriff Mike Adams and his wife, Ashley Adams.
Deputy Sheriff Adams was an Air Force veteran who joined the Christian County Sheriff’s Office in November of 2022 and served in the Patrol Division as a patrol deputy.
Before he and his wife moved to Christian County, Adams served with the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office.
The couple’s 4-month-old grandchild was in the minivan during the crash, but survived and is currently hospitalized.
