Highway Patrol Warning Drivers of Driving Dangers During Fourth of July Weekend

Troopers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol wants to warn drivers in the Ozarks to keep an eye out on the roads with the Fourth of July holiday quickly approaching.

Reports say an estimated 50 million drivers are expected to be travelling on the Fourth of July and the days surrounding it, which would be a record for the holiday.

The Highway Patrol says 11 people were killed and over 400 were injured in the state of Missouri during the same period last year.

Sergeant Mike McClure says troopers will be out on the roads to assist with the safety of drivers, but warns you to drive sober, avoid distractions and be aware of other cars on roadways and highways over the next few days.
