Lawmakers in Missouri Proposing Law Allowing Murder Charges for Abortion

With the next legislative session beginning next month, some Republican lawmakers in Missouri are pushing for abortion to be considered murder.

Republicans in both the state House and state Senate are filing bills for the next session that would make abortion in the state punishable by a homicide charge.

There are exceptions included in the proposed bills, including women who got abortions due to verbal or physical threats, or if the abortion was performed to prevent the mother’s loss of life.

State Senator Mike Moon, who represents part of southwest Missouri, is sponsoring one of the bills.
