What We Know: A man from Halfway is facing several charges after deputies say he chased two people in Polk County, fired shots at their vehicle, and rammed them off the road.
What It Means: Court records say Dakota Hardesty is charged with four counts each of first-degree assault and armed criminal action, along with weapons charges.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office says the incident happened September 10th near Pleasant Hope.
The two victims told dispatch someone was throwing hammers at their vehicle, chasing them and firing shots. They said their truck was eventually rammed off the road and into a fence.
Deputies later stopped a Chevy pickup and arrested Hardesty.
Investigators say they found brass knuckles, a pistol and a loaded rifle with a homemade suppressor.
Deputies say the chase lasted about 15 minutes. Investigators say Hardesty told them he did not know the two victims before the incident.
