A man from Springfield is in custody in Greene County on weapons charges after threatening a man and his girlfriend in front of his home.
Investigators were called to the scene near the intersection of Locust Street and East Division on Sunday.
According to the victim, he was driving home when he saw his girlfriend on a walk. He stopped to talk with her and offer her a ride back to their home when 30-year-old Kristopher Cline stepped out of his house with a gun.
Reports say he fired 5-6 times into the ground before even confronting the victims. After shooting, he began yelling at the couple, then pointed the weapon at them and began chasing them.
Cline denied shooting the gun, or even owning a gun, saying they had previously been confiscated by police. He did, however, admit to being under the influence of alcohol. No one was injured during the incident.
He is being held in the Greene County Jail on an undisclosed bond amount on two counts of fourth-degree assault and three counts of unlawful use of a weapon.
