Man from Springfield Accused of Sexual Assault Facing Sodomy Charges

A man from Springfield is in custody on charges of sodomy after he allegedly sexually assaulted a woman and hiding from authorities.

According to investigators, 48-year-old Shane Nason was at the victim’s home when she exited the shower and went into her bedroom.

She told police that when she got into her home, Nason was lying on her bed naked, and asked to have sex.

The victim said she told him “no” several times as he began to force her onto the bed. The victim’s roommate recorded part of the incident, and corroborated the victim’s statement that she had repeatedly told Nason “no” and rejected his advances.

Authorities say Nason eventually got off of her, grabbing the victim by the arm and pushing her against the wall.

When Springfield Police arrived at the scene, he hid in the attic of the property, and SPD used a K9 unit to get him out and into custody.

Nason is charged with two counts of first-degree sodomy, and one count of resisting arrest. Investigators say he has previous convictions for domestic assault and other related crimes in Missouri, Nevada, and Colorado.
