A man from Springfield is in custody after allegedly trying to steal a Tesla, and hitting the owner with the car in the process.

Springfield Police say 27-year-old Kendrick Price arrived at a home around 7 a.m. on Weller Avenue near Dale Street when he tried to steal the car.

The owner’s security measures went off, and he went outside to confront Price.

The owner says Price backed the car into him, breaking his arm and knocking him to the ground.

He was arrested a short time after with a passenger in the vehicle.

Price is charged with two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of armed criminal action and attempting to steal a motor vehicle.
