Man from Springfield Arrested in Utah for Wife’s Murder

A man from Springfield charged in connection with his wife’s murder in May turned himself into authorities on Monday.

32-year-old Jacob Hodgkins surrendered to authorities in Cedar City, Utah Monday afternoon and will face murder charges in Springfield.

Hodgkins is charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the shooting death of his wife, Ada Hodgkins. Police say the shooting took place at the couple’s home on May 28.

Springfield Police were called to the home by Ada, telling dispatchers that her husband had shot her. Body cam footage from officers also shows Ada telling officers at the scene that Jacob was the shooter.

Ada suffered a severe gunshot wound to the chest and was transported to a local hospital, where she later died of her injuries.

Reports show Jacob had an extensive criminal history.
