Man From Springfield Pleads Guilty To Stabbing At Mercy Surgery Center

A man from Springfield is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to stabbing a woman at the Mercy Surgery Center in 2021.

34-year-old Charles Turner was on trial for stabbing his ex-partner in the stairwell of the facility where she worked before turning himself in at the Springfield Police Department. Turner pleaded guilty to Armed Criminal Action and Domestic Assault, and will be sentenced in April.

The incident started when Turner felt he wasn’t able to see or contact a child after the relationship with the victim had ended.

The stabbing closed Mercy’s Surgery Center on the day of the incident and put the nearby hospital on lockdown.
