Roughly eight months after being accused of robbing a Springfield nail salon, the suspect has now been sentenced.

Prosecutors say Ray Genel pleaded guilty to three charges:

  • First-degree robbery
  • Armed criminal action
  • Resisting arrest

According to Springfield Police, he arrived at the Zen Nail Bar on Campbell in February of this year, went up to an employee and robbed the store at gunpoint.

He was arrested a short time later with bills that matched those stolen from the salon.

Genel pleaded guilty to all three charges, and received a total of 17 years in prison.
