A judge has sentenced a man from Vietnam to over 14 years in prison for trafficking meth in Springfield.

44-year-old Hon Chau was sentenced Monday by a U.S. District judge to 14 years and two months in prison for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and one count of possession of a firearm.

He pleaded guilty to both charges.

Authorities arrested Chau in February of 2020 while executing a search warrant. They found nearly 300 grams of meth, over $6,000 in cash in his vehicle.

Investigators say he also had a gun on his person.

Chau had previously been convicted on 12 different felony charges in the state, and had been released from prison last year.
