Man Who Allegedly Rammed into Motorcyclist Facing Charges

A man from Rockaway Beach is facing charges after allegedly crashing into a motorcycle in Springfield.

Investigators say Dea Brewer was driving an SUV on West Bennett Street May 22 when he purposely rear-ended the motorcycle, then fled the scene.

Authorities arrived at the scene at around 6:00 pm and found the victim unconscious. He was taken to Mercy Hospital in critical conditions.

Doctors say he suffered head injuries and severe road rash.

Investigators canvassed the scene to determine the vehicle that caused the crash, and were able to determine it was Brewer’s vehicle.

Video footage corroborated evidence found at the scene.

The footage showed the motorcyclist dropping the woman off at a nearby recovery center prior to the accident. The woman turned out to be Brewer’s ex-girlfriend, who accused Brewer of stalking her.

When he was arrested, authorities discovered an arrest warrant for Brewer in Taney County.

He is facing two charges: first-degree assault resulting in serious injury and armed criminal action.
