Mayor and City Council Seats Open for Springfield, Petitioning Begins

The petitioning process has opened to get on the ballot in the races for Mayor and City Council in Springfield.

Those who want to run for one of those offices must gather 200 signatures before filing.

To qualify to run, you must be a registered voter in Springfield and a resident for at least two years.

Those running for a zone council seat mist be a resident of that zone for at least one year immediately prior to the election.

Mayor is set for a two year term, and city council seats are 4 year terms. Zone 1 this year will be an exception to the 4 year term, as it will be the remainder of Angela Romine’s term.
