UPDATE: One Person Shot on Parking Lot Near Battlefield and Kansas Expressway in Springfield

Officers say they believe the shooting is an isolated incident, and do not anticipate any danger to the public.

The victim is still being treated for his injuries at a local hospital.

Police are still working to locate the suspect and their vehicle.

ORIGINAL STORY:

One person is being treated at a hospital in Springfield after being shot early Monday afternoon off Meadowbrook Avenue between the McDonald’s and McCallister’s parking lots and Red Racks Thrift Store.

Police say the victim is suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Officers closed part of westbound traffic on Battlefield while they investigated the incident, which occurred around 1:00 p.m. Monday.

Authorities say a suspect vehicle has been identified, and was seen headed north on Kansas Expressway.
