Motive Released in Murder on the Ozark Square

Authorities have finally revealed the motive for a murder that occurred on the square in Ozark on Saturday.

47-year-old Matthew Dedmon has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of 57-year-old Joe Newburn.

Investigators say Dedmon was looking for his wife on the square when he saw her at a restaurant with Newburn on the 100 block of West Church. They also say Dedmon knew his wife was having an affair with Newburn.

Dedmon rushed into the restaurant to confront Newburn, and that’s when police say he shot him three times.

Following the shooting, investigators found Dedmon and searched his vehicle and found the murder weapon.

Newburn was taken to a local hospital following the shooting, but later succumbed to his injuries.
