Last week, Governor Kehoe signed House Bill 1041, which lowers the tax per gallon of malt liquor produced by beer breweries.
The bill drops the tax per gallon from 6 cents down to just 2 cents, which doesn’t seem like much, but it is to brewery owners.
Scott Wuest of Turkey Creek Brewery in Hollister, MO says that the cost drop will assist in offsetting price spikes on goods like aluminum cans or increases on brewing ingredients caused by tariffs.
Large breweries like Anheuser-Busch will see significant savings thanks to this bill, but it will also positively impact small breweries too, easing financial strains and helping them to invest back into their communities.
Holly Neal of Malt and Barrel Brewing Co. in Branson, MO says that breweries are important to communities, serving as go-to spots for large family and community event gatherings.
