Officers with the Nixa Police Department are investigating after a woman was found dead at a home in the city.
Investigators say 30-year-old Sarah Nichols was found outside the house along North Fort Court near Mt. Vernon Wednesday night.
Police were called to a disturbance, but before officers arrived on scene, the call was updated to a report of shots fired.
One person of interest has been taken into custody, but no charges have been filed.
Authorities say this is an active death investigation.
