It appears there will be no Christmas parade in Battlefield Saturday after a dispute between the parade organizer and city officials.
Parade organizer Deziree Marsch says the city required her to get a permit for the parade and pay for street barricades and police protection. Marsch says she had only 24 hours to review the permit application, and her attorney advised her not to complete it. Then the Battlefield Board of Aldermen voted against granting the permit.
Marsch says she wouldn’t have had time to meet the city’s requirements, so she decided to cancel the parade.
