UPDATE: Woman Killed On U-S 54 in Hickory County After Jumping From Truck

UPDATE: The Highway Patrol say 33-year-old Lacey Ritch of Urbana opened the passenger door and jumped out of a pickup truck but was struck by the tandems on a trailer that the pickup was pulling, before being struck again by the Pontiac Grand Am.

The accident happened on U.S 54 near Weaubleau in Hickory County early Thursday morning.

Original Story: The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a car in Hickory County.

Troopers say the victim, 33-year-old Urbana native Lacey Ritch, was walking along Highway 54 east of Weaubleau early Thursday morning when she was hit by a Pontiac Grand Am.

The driver of the car was a 52-year-old woman from Hermitage, whose identity has not yet been released.

Ritch was pronounced dead at the scene at around 4:00 a.m.
