Second Suspect in Camden County Burglary Arrested, Charged with Murder

A second suspect has been identified, arrested, and charged in connection with a home invasion and burglary at a home in Camden County.

Investigators say 23-year-old Austin Rippe and 44-year-old Derek Wayman broke into a home along Highway 7 in Camdenton last Wednesday, October 2.

When authorities were contacted, the 911 caller told law enforcement that they had opened fire and shot one of the intruders.

Wayman was the suspect shot at the scene, while Rippe fled the area in a dark-colored vehicle.

Deputies with the Camden County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene, where they found Wayman dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

The search quickly began for the second suspect, who investigators determined to be Rippe.

He was ultimately located and taken into custody in Springfield.

Rippe is charged with second-degree burglary, as well as second-degree murder for being an accomplice and at the scene when Wayman was shot and killed. Therefore making him present for the commission of a felony that led to a death.

Deputies say he is currently being held in the Camden County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
